Tirelo Magane

I was born and raised in a small town called Burgersfort, situated on the border of Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. After completing my high school education. I relocated to Johannesburg to further my studies at Wits University, where I graduated with Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (OT) in 2021. Thereafter, I went on to do my community service in one of the hospitals in the Vaal triangle.

I fell in love with psychiatric OT during my time as a student at Wits. However, during my community service year, I did not get an opportunity to do psychiatric OT. After 2 years of not doing psychiatric OT, I got an opportunity to locum in a psychiatric ward/hospital and my love for psychiatric OT was then revived.

After visiting a family member who was admitted in a drug rehabilitation centre. I developed interest in substance abuse rehabilitation, and that led me to read articles on the role of occupational therapy in addiction rehabilitation. After looking around for a drug rehabilitation centre to partner with, the management team of EVWC opened their doors for me. As an individual, I believe in team work and bringing about positive change in people’s lives. I believe that I will positively impact the lives of our clients at EVWC.

Alta Schreuder

I was born in the summer of ’61, joining a family filled with love and joy. My wonderful parents and amazing older brother made my childhood truly special. In 1984, I obtained my B Pharm degree from Potchefstroom University. My career as a retail pharmacist began soon after, and I still enjoy working as a locum in the local area, staying connected to the community. In 2009, my Husband, Hennie Schreuder, and I embarked on an exciting new venture by opening Eagles View Guest House and Conference Center. It was a fun filled journey that took me out of my comfort zone. Our dream grew and evolved, and in 2023, it blossomed into Eagles View Wellness Center.

I enjoy working with the dedicated team at the centre, particularly at the nurses’ station. But the journey doesn’t stop there! Together with Sara Lattimer, we are in the midst of creating the Holistic Healing SPA @ Eagles View. This new venture aims to bring an additional layer of care and compassion to our rehab centre, aligning with our dream of offering a truly holistic approach to healing and wellness. Outside of my professional life, I’m a lover of the outdoors. Whether it’s diving into the ocean’s depths or camping in the bush, I find peace and adventure in nature. I’m also passionate about a variety of sports and enjoy getting my hands dirty in the garden. Whenever I can find a quiet moment, I love to lose myself in a good book. I look forward to the many adventures and opportunities that lie ahead as a team member at Eagles View Wellness Centre.

Marius Swart

Hey there, I’m Marius Swart, and my story is one of hope.
Growing up in a tough environment with abuse and addiction is something many addicts can relate to, so I won’t dwell on that. The real turning points for me came after leaving home. At this time, two experiences stand out that I wish never to repeat: My two years of military training and going to rehab!

Checking into rehab on May 24th, 2003, was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It demanded more courage, honesty, and humility than I thought I had. I count my clean time from May 25th, the day after I checked in. Completing rehab was a huge achievement for me because, as an addict and alcoholic, I had always struggled to follow through on anything. But this time, I was determined to see it through, and I spent four months in a rehab environment.

After nearly eight years of sobriety, I decided to chase my dream of becoming an Addictions Counsellor. I took various courses, including the LifeLine course, and volunteered to work without compensation at two rehabs. After nine months, one of them offered me a permanent position as a trainee counsellor. It took another nine months of hands-on training before I could call myself an addictions counsellor and start facilitating groups, lectures, and workshops.

I worked at that facility for two and a half years before moving to another one. While working there, I decided to open a Halfway House, and on May 1st, 2015, Malachite House was born. By August 2016, Malachite House was up and running smoothly. It was at this time that I was offered a position as an Addictions Counsellor at two branches of Akeso Clinic. This was the perfect place for me to refine my addiction counselling skills.

But I still had a dream of opening a rehab—not just another facility, but a place of hope. I did not want to be like so many other facilities. I wanted everything to be legit, with the proper documentation and registration. I wanted a facility where I could apply the best of what I’d learned over the past 20 years.
In April 2023, I met Hennie, and my life changed. He believed in my vision for the industry, and together we established Eagles View Wellness Centre.

Now, I’m living a dream that’s bigger and better than anything I ever imagined. Eagles View is not just a rehab; it’s a place of hope, a place where we truly make a difference.
And that’s my story—a journey from addiction to hope, from surviving to thriving.

Hennie Schreuder

My Journey:
Growing up with humble beginnings taught me the value of discipline and hard work. I learned early on that nothing in life should be taken for granted or left to fate—you get off your backside and work for what you want. Since starting my first business at the age of 18, I’ve always embraced the mentality of the Eagle. I believe in not being part of a crowd, viewing problems as mere challenges, and rising above the storm rather than running for shelter. Just like an eagle, I strive for vision and focus, soaring high to get a clear view of my goals and maintaining sharp attention on achieving them. Excuses like “problems” or “I’m tired” don’t hold water with me; there’s a solution for everything. My attitude has always been that a fool learns from his own mistakes, while a wise person learns from the mistakes of others. I’ve had the privilege of owning various businesses in the construction, restaurant, and hospitality sectors, which has allowed me to live my dream. I’ve been honoured to be voted Old Mutual Businessman of the Year twice in my career.

After turning 50, as a hobby, I found great satisfaction in helping struggling businesses turn into profitable entities. My other hobbies reflect my passion for cooking and the hospitality industry. For the past 22 years, I’ve enjoyed training individuals in the hospitality and lodge industry across Southern Africa, from Tanzania to South Africa. People often ask when I plan to retire, and I tell them that retirement means doing what you enjoy. By that definition, I’ve been retired since I was 18 because I’ve always loved what I do. Sports are another passion of mine. I played rugby for the old Transvaal (now the Golden Lions) and got my golf handicap down to 8. I repeatedly participated in various endurance events like the Comrades Marathon, Two Oceans Marathon, and cycling events like the Cape Argus and 94.7. On the water, I found great joy in swimming the Midmar Mile and doing the Dusi Canoe Marathon. I find immense joy in the solitude of nature with my loved ones.

Starting Eagles View Wellness Centre has been one of the most rewarding ventures of my life. I derive great satisfaction from seeing people who have faced real hardships in life grab the opportunities given to them and succeed. The team I surround myself with shares a genuine passion for making a difference in others’ lives.

Vanessa Oeschger

My name is Vanessa Oeschger. I was born in Blairgowrie in Johannesburg to a beautiful family. My mom and dad were together until my mom passed away. I have an older brother, and sister. Sadly, my other brother passed away in a fight. I had a happy upbringing – even though my dad drank a lot, and my mom had Parkinsons Disease since I was born. I had many friends growing up and enjoyed school, and all the activities that went along with it. I was head girl in primary and high school.

I got married young – and had 2 incredible children that have grown into the most magical human beings – that I couldn’t be more proud of. Sadly I got lost to addiction further on in my life, though – thinking back – it had already started in early high school – with lots of drinking at all the parties, braai’s and school dances. I eventually did a long term – tough love program – which today I am beyond thankful for, as I know if I had’nt, I would not be here now to tell my story and help the next suffering addict climb out the pit of hell.

Whilst in my program, I knew I wanted to “pay it forward” – so I became and Addictions Councelor, and I have never looked back. It took addiction to help me find my purpose in life – and I honestly love my job!! There is nothing like watching the light come back into someone’s eyes after they have been in the dark for so long. I am beyond blessed and thankful for my addiction and my sobriety – and realized this is all part of my life’s journey. I hope to heal many suffering addicts – so they can get to the stage in their own lives, where they are happy, hardworking – individuals. My favorite quote is – Some people dance in the rain, other just get wet..

Lebogang Mokgatle

Lebogang Mokgatle was born on the 9th of February 1996 in Rustenburg, Northwest. He is passionate about his spiritual beliefs and finds solace in socialising with others and learning from them.

Lebogang obtained his MA in Drama Therapy from Wits University and is registered with the HPCSA as a Drama Therapist. Lebogang has been a part of Uzwano: Unity through Hip Hop which was a concert he directed alongside 2 other artists and partnered with the National Arts Council as well as Constitutional Hill and featured in articles from the Daily Maverick and City Life Arts. Lebogang also studied Psychology and Drama at Rhodes University and was a part of the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown where he was part of the performance Welcome to the Zoo which later received the Standard Bank Ovation award.

In his studies, Lebogang was rewarded a Golden Key membership indicating that he was the top 15% of his faculty in terms of academic achievement. For his Masters thesis, Lebogang researched how VR could be applied in a therapeutic setting with specific utilization of role play for individuals displaying anxiety symptoms. For this contribution, he was approached to contribute a chapter for the book: Mental Health Virtual Reality: The power of Immersive Worlds, published by Wiley.

Lebogang is currently a resident therapist at Eagles View Wellness Centre and has his private practice which spans across local and international clients from Asia and North America as well. Lebogang has a strong passion for utilizing the body as a communicative tool where words alone cannot express enough for clients and approaches therapy from a Polyvagal “bottom-up” approach.

Brian Tucker

For over a decade I have been working closely with addicted individuals from substances to process addictions like gaming, gambling, sex porn and shopping. I have worked extensively in the field for many years, gained international qualifications in addiction and am involved in various ongoing community support systems. My passion is to serve, and having struggled with many of these addictions myself, I endeavour to use my training, knowledge and experience to assist in alleviating the suffering of others to the best of my ability.

Sello Nthite

I love what I do and with that I feel privileged and honored to be part of the Eagles View Team. The values that the facility possess are client centered and that has always been a part what I believe is to be essential when it comes to mental health and rehabilitation. I believe that I am extremely approachable, possess a great sense of humor, extremely reliable and always put my patients first. I am passionate about what I do and try to remain humble with the client always being my number one priority. I studied male auxiliary nursing, and I am registered with the S.A,N,C. I have many years of experience in the mental health field across many different facilities but feel that I am a part of a unique team at Eagles View Wellness Centre.

Nicholet Golden

I have always had a passion for helping people in the field of addiction and mental health. I have a diploma in general psychiatric community and midwifery obtained Ann Latsky college of Nursing 1998. B cur degree in nursing education and Administration specializing in primary healthcare obtained in 2010 at the university of Johannesburg. I have worked at several facilities across SA and have found a home at Eagles View Wellness Centre. I feel that I am part of a team here that focuses on the wellbeing of the patient and with that I believe that the passion for what I do shines through with my interactions with the clients daily.

Dr. Vicky Lottering

Doctor Vicky Lottering’s career reflects a continuous commitment to providing high-quality patient-centered care, particularly in the areas of acute medical care, chronic condition management, preventative medicine, and psychiatric illness.

Dr. Lottering graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2004 where she achieved membership to the Golden Key Society for high academic achievement. She spent eight years in Australia as an Emergency Docter where she also did a certificate in Mental Health, Gender Based Violence and Cosmetic Medicine. Her love of teaching was fulfilled by a senior lecturer position at the Australian National University (ANU), where she trained and mentored medical students.

On return to South-Africa she broadened her scope of experience working as an Emergency Department Manager where she acquired multiple Emergency Courses, including Emergency Sonography, and later went on to work as a full-time General Practitioner. Her expertise in drug and alcohol rehabilitation was honed during her tenure at a Drug and Rehabilitation Hospital (2019-2022), where she specialized in managing substance use disorders. She continues to work as a General Practitioner, Drug-and Rehabilitation Doctor, combined with Cosmetic Medicine and Sports Medicine.

On a more personal level, Dr. Lottering lives in Centurion with her husband and three boys whom she adores, teaches at the Children’s Praise and Worship at Doxa DeoMidstream and acts as a carer for her mother and father who lives with her. When she’s not working you’ll find her painting, reading or spending time with her Herbal Medicine Garden.

She is a warm, compassionate person with a love for attention to detail and further learning. Her extensive experience, compassionate approach, and commitment to continuous learning makes her an invaluable asset to any healthcare team.

Dr. Tau

I’m a specialist psychiatrist working in the West Rand District of Johannesburg, trained and qualitied to diagnose and treat a wide range of general psychiatric disorders. My area of interest IS in addiction psychiatry where the focus is on evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of people suffering from addiction and related disorders.

I’m looking at training and obtaining a specialised training on substance use and addiction and treating individuals with concurrent symptoms of addiction and other mental illness.

Shehkira Guerini

I was born in December at Flora Clinic in Roodepoort and matriculated in 2021. As the youngest of three siblings, my family and I have spent our entire lives in Roodepoort. I currently serve as the Office Administration and Medical Secretary Case Manager at Eagles View Wellness Centre.

I love coming to work each day, as I have the opportunity to help individuals start their treatment and guide them on their road to recovery. It is incredibly fulfilling to assist people in turning their lives around for themselves and their loved ones. Every day at work brings new learning experiences, which I cherish and embrace.

My colleagues and clients often describe me as an absolutely genuine, sincerely kind person with the biggest heart. I am always friendly, smiling, and have a wonderful, warm soul. I believe these traits help me connect with and support those I work with.

Outside of work, I am a devoted mother to my adorable and sweet little boy. I live by the inspiring quote, “Don’t let the past steal your future,” which reflects my philosophy of fostering resilience and optimism in both my personal and professional life.

Sanelisiwe Mokgatle

I was born in Durban Kwa-Zulu Natal on the 27th of June 1989. I attended Durban Girls’ High School and then Durban University of Technology for undergraduate studies. I completed my postgraduate education at the University of Witwatersrand with an Honours Degree in Drama Therapy. I am completing my Drama Therapy Masters Degree at Wits University.

I am a wife and a mother. I enjoys spending time with family, investing in spiritual growth, being an active part of the community. I have been selected as a Global South Arts and Health Envoy in the 2024 cohort for my contributions to the arts and mental health. I will be presenting on my work and collaborations with other professionals from across the globe who have made an impact in the fields of arts and health in their respective communities.

I have curated Uzwano Unity Through Hip-Hop, a production which was showcased at Human Rights Festival at Constitutional Hill. I directed Ukufunda Nokubona at the Drama For Life & Norway University of Technology Conference. I have worked as facilitator with Dance For Our Lives, dance and Movement organization based in Chicago USA. I have also worked with different diagnoses such as ADHD and those on the Autism Spectrum as a facilitator and educator. Some of my leadership roles include being the administrator for IACEAT (International Association for Creative Arts in Education and Therapy) in South Africa and the student representative for SANATA (South African National Arts Therapies Association).

During my studies at the Durban University of Technology I graduated with 7 academic awards. At the University of Witwatersrand. I was awarded the Marshall Kander Drama For Life Award for Outstanding Research in HIV/AIDS Education Through Applied Drama and Theatre. I am greatly interested in fostering resilience and communal connection through the arts and mental health modalities.

Adelé Grobler

I was born on 10 November 1974 in Johannesburg and currently serve as the Administrative Clerk for Eagles View Wellness Centre. With a heart for serving and helping others, I am passionate about qualifying in psychology to aid those who have suffered trauma and abuse in their lives.

I draw daily inspiration and support from my loving husband. In my free time, I enjoy walking, running, and spending time outdoors. I have a deep appreciation for animals and gardening, and I love exploring my creative side through baking, floral arrangements, and organising functions.

I hold a Secretarial and Business Skills qualification and bring 30 years of specialised experience as an Executive Personal Assistant and Manager, having worked alongside various executive teams across different industries. I am an energetic, multi-skilled, and talented former business owner of an Office and Business Support/Management Company.
I believe in uplifting, encouraging, and empowering everyone I encounter, striving to make a positive impact in both my professional and personal life.

Zane

Zane is an Intern Counselling Psychologist. He has a special interest in trauma, self-acceptance, and emotional flexibility. Zane is warm and approachable with a belief that the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of any psychological intervention. He incorporates elements of acceptance and commitment therapy into his therapeutic process.

His therapeutic stance aims to empower individuals to engage with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, as opposed to avoiding them, as he believes they are ultimately unavoidable. To rather foster a sense of acceptance, meaning and purpose while being present, open, and adaptive in the face of adversity, as opposed to deploying avoidance techniques that provide short term relief before turning into long-lasting suffering.

Joash Govender

Joash’s journey is marked by resilience, innovation, and unwavering commitment. Joash’s own battle with physical and emotional challenges led him to explore alternative healing modalities. His encounters with dedicated therapists and practitioners ignited a vision: To Change One Life at a time.

Joash’s philosophy centers on the interconnectedness of mind, body, and soul. He believes that true healing involves addressing all aspects of a person’s being. George Georgas

George Georgas boasts extensive expertise in both hospitality and health and wellness, with a unique blend of skills that sets him apart. His journey began at the Three Cities International Hotel School in Illovo, where he studied hospitality and tourism. He then joined Sun City, completing the esteemed Resort Liaison Officer program, which provided hands-on experience across various departments, including sales, marketing, food and beverage, housekeeping, and operations management.

Under the mentorship of his father, a seasoned hospitality executive, George honed his skills at Sun City, The Table Bay Hotel, and The Wild Coast Sun. He later pursued his passion for helping others, becoming a Master Life Coach through the Evolved Coaching Institute in South Africa.

George’s distinctive blend of hospitality expertise and coaching skills has proven invaluable in his work at various health, wellness, and rehabilitation centers in South Africa. His personal journey and triumphs over adversity fuel his dedication to empowering others to overcome challenges and discover newfound freedom and happiness.

Susan Reynolds

I am a Counselling Psychologist and studied at the University of Pretoria where I obtained a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of Pretoria in 1981. I am registered with the HPCSA and I have more than 35 years experience as a psychologist, mainly working in the field of addiction, employee wellness and in private practice.

I started my career in the field of substance addiction by working for 7 years at Staanvas Sentrum in Pretoria, now known as Stabilis. I also was a sessional psychologist at Tranquility/Eden clinic for the period April 2020 to June 2023.

I am in private practice since 1990 and has a special interest in couples counselling, trauma, bereavement, substance abuse, and mental health problems. I was employed by ICAS SA, (now known as Lyra Health SA) from November 2007 until January 2023 doing telephone and online counselling. Since January 2023 I am contracted by Lyra Health International as an intake clinician and also doing online counselling.

My passion is to assist my clients on their journey and to help them find meaning in their pain and suffering to enable them to grow and transform their pain.
